Clean Air

We all have the right to breathe clean air

Our goal is to make the invisible visible through real-time air quality data—empowering collaboration and action to reduce pollution and safeguard community health.

Why Measure Air Quality?

Pollutants originate from a range of sources.   Understanding their nature, levels, and origins requires real-time data—yet current monitoring in our area falls short.

Chemical effluence into the environment may cause adverse health effects over time, including but not limited to asthma, reduced lung function, heart disease, stroke, cancer, bronchitis, and diabetes.

To address these challenges, we are collaborating with community members to build a local air monitoring network and encourage the use of air-quality sensors, empowering residents to generate data that speaks for itself.

Benefits of Air Quality Monitoring

  1. Protect families & neighborhoods by identifying pollutants affecting children, elderly and pets

  2. Improve industry response and accountability.

  3. Improve tourist experience

  4. Protect our future legacy

  5. Real-time alerts via text is a goal to help people with lung or heart conditions make safe outdoor decisions.

Real-time Data

Tellus Airview: provides extensive real time data on a number of specific toxins.

Map Instructions: Select TELLUS Public, then click on a Tellus monitor to view data. Choose AQI in the metric box to highlight the dominant pollutants at that point in time.  For a better experience, deselect PurpleAir, since Tellus already provides PM2.5 data.

Purple Air Data

PM2.5 is a small and dangerous pollutant according to the EPA.  PM2.5 penetrates deep into the lungs, and may enter the bloodstream and cross directly into the brain and nervous system. It can impact every organ and is linked to respiratory problems, heart issues, cancer, dementia and more.

Note: Purple Air monitors PM2.5 particles but cannot identify specific toxic compounds. This means Purple Air may show green (good air quality) even when noxious odors or harmful gases are present in the air. Tellus AirView fills this gap by tracking PM2.5 alongside specific pollutants—see What we can track for the full list of monitored compounds.

Make a Difference

Report: If you smell chemical odors, feel ill as a result, find your property covered with particulate matter, are disturbed by manufacturing plant noise or have other pollution concerns, it is important that you report these issues.

Without formal documentation, we have no evidence that the community perceives a problem. Report air problems, odors or concerns to the following:

» Donate: help cover and maintain sensor costs

To help expand our monitoring systems, provide professional quarterly reporting, ensure system maintenance and develop an alert system.
